Tree of Knowledge

Pencil, watercolor on bristol

July, 2024

“Tree of Knowledge” involved four studies of an oak tree in UC Berkeley’s Faculty Glade. The purpose of studying these four scales was to better understand not just each part of a tree but how they functioned as a whole. The tree also includes a cardinal in the top left, a squirrel near the center, and a worm among the roots, symbolizing the interactions beyond the tree itself.

This project was completed for LA-1, “Drawing a Green Future,” a studio course covering freehand drawing and the problem-solving ways visual thinking can create a sustainable future.
